Masters Esthetics vs. Advanced Esthetics

Masters Esthetics is our beginning-level course that requires no previous experience and Advanced Esthetics is our course for those with a current Oregon esthetics license.

AESTHETICS INSTITUTE

Masters Esthetics vs. Advanced Esthetics

At our school, our beginner-level general esthetics course is called Masters Esthetics.

It has this name because you learn far more than what is required for Oregon’s general esthetics license. When you complete this course, you can test with the state of Oregon and receive your general esthetics license.

Masters Esthetics

The most significant point of confusion lies in the fact that our general, beginner-level esthetics course at our school is called “Masters Esthetics.”

Our course has maintained this name for more than 30 years, far before Oregon and Washington had multiple tiers of esthetics training.

You can apply and attend our Advanced Esthetics course when you have your current Oregon general esthetics license. When you complete our Advanced Esthetics course, you can again test with the state of Oregon to receive your Advanced Esthetics certificate.

Advanced Esthetics Requirements

No matter where you receive your general esthetics course training, you must have a current Oregon general esthetics license to attend an Oregon Advanced Esthetics course.

When you complete the Advanced Esthetics course at our school and then test with the state of Oregon and receive your advanced esthetics certificate, you can apply for reciprocity for the Masters Esthetics license from the state of Washington.

Washington State Reciprocity

As of 2022, the state of Washington has reciprocity with both of our esthetics programs. You would finish each respective course, take your license or certificate test in Oregon, and apply with reciprocity for your license in Washington.

In the state of Washington, the “Masters Esthetics” license is often considered equivalent, more or less, to Oregon’s “Advanced Esthetics” certificate regarding specific reciprocity for licensing purposes. But please note that the scope of practice for estheticians can vary widely from state to state.

Please note that state governments and oversight boards regularly change laws and reciprocity rules concerning esthetics licensing. It is your responsibility to do your own research and perform due diligence to ensure all of this information is correct and current. Please see both Oregon and Washington state government websites for more information to start your research.

Complete In Full

It is also important to note that at our school, both our Masters Esthetics and Advanced Esthetics courses must be completed in full.

There is no option to take just specific sections or parts of each course curriculum to learn a particular skill or modality. They are both comprehensive courses that are designed to meet and exceed all of Oregon’s esthetics licensure requirements.
